Are there conditions when hypnotherapy is contra-indicated?

A: Though hypnotherapy is an entirely appropriate, highly beneficial form of treatment for a wide range of problems, especially psychosomatic and stress-related disorders, there are a few specific conditions when it should normally not be used. These include schizophrenia and epilepsy as well as severe psychiatric disorders - clinical depression / bipolar conditions. In such circumstances hypnotherapy is sometimes judged not to be appropriate.
